With the introduction of the Mythical Creatures series of speaker cables, AudioQuest has surpassed even its own very high standards.

The same team responsible for the groundbreaking new series of AudioQuest AC cables - AudioQuest founder William Low and Director of Power Products Garth Powell - has created the most transparent immersive loudspeaker ever made. The Mythical Creatures series - ThunderBird, FireBird and Dragon - are not just an incremental development. Their introduction represents a category advancement in speaker cable design.

Garth and Bill built on a solid foundation of well-known AQ technologies and focused specifically on one of the biggest problems in speaker cable design: the mismatch between the source impedance of the amplifier and the load impedance of the speaker.

In all previous attempts to address this problem, the characteristic impedance of the speaker cable was shifted to a value closer to the nominal impedance of the speakers. All of these attempts failed because the impedance of a speaker changes with frequency and the output impedance of the amplifier is quite different.

By eliminating the characteristic impedance of Mythical Creatures' speaker cable, current compression and distortion of the signal (current) transient is greatly reduced. The result is dynamic contrast, transient response and bass slam that are reproduced with seemingly effortless ease.

These new ZERO speaker cables from Mythical Creatures can be used in two ways: either as an ideal full-range cable or in combination with a dedicated BASS cable in a BiWire cable assembly with unprecedented performance. ThunderBird, FireBird, and Dragon BASS cables incorporate our patented common mode noise reduction technology, which gives BiWire an audibly dramatic extra reason to use them whenever possible.
