AudioQuest Earth (RCA)
Consider this simple fact: even the smallest flowers crack concrete. Suffice it to ask what could happen if the earth were freed from the influence of humanity and simply left to its own devices - to regenerate, to bloom and to go wild. What wonders could spring up from its soil? Scientists speculate that it would only take a century or two to wipe away the plants, crops and animal species so carefully created by the industrious hand of humanity. In a few thousand years, the world could look exactly as it did before mankind: a wilderness. Take New York City, for example, which is considered by many to be the greatest city on earth. Without human intervention, the repeated thawing and freezing of spring and winter within a decade would break the city's cement skin and allow the water to penetrate deep into the fertile soil. Cracks would widen, deepen and provide the soil from which exotic plant species like New York's fertile Chinese ailanthus tree would grow. In just five years, the ailanthus roots would be churning up the sidewalks and gliding through the sewers, while the city's skyscrapers would be adorned with native creepers and poison ivy. Within two decades, the water-soaked steel columns supporting the street above the city's massive subway tunnels would give way and quickly transform Lexington Avenue into a mighty river. Coyotes would find shelter in Central Park, followed by deer, bears and wolves. Great oaks covered the land, while hawks and falcons soar through the sky. But let's not forget: we are also a product of the earth's rich soil and share the ability of the most majestic creature to strengthen, diversify, and cultivate the land; to create a world where we can be happy and nurture life. Indeed, the earth is a reservoir of such life, a treasure chest full of elements - stones, metals, clay and other ingredients - with which we build our villages and cities, our most humble refuges and most breathtaking monuments: the skyscrapers that parts the highest clouds, tunnels that connect the most distant areas, and bridges that cross the widest rivers. That the smallest flower can be as strong as the tallest skyscraper is not an indictment of humanity. Instead, it is proof of the enormous potential of humanity: to create a beauty that is only surpassed by the natural splendor of the earth. SOLID COPPER CONDUCTOR (PSC +) WITH PERFECT SURFACE
Solid conductors prevent both electrical and magnetic strand-to-strand interaction, the main causes of distortion. Surface quality is critical, as a conductor can be considered as a rail guide for both the fields inside a conductor and the magnetic fields that extend outside the conductor. The amazingly smooth and clean surface of all AudioQuests' Perfect Surface metals virtually eliminates hardness and significantly increases clarity compared to fewer materials. Extremely high purity copper with a perfect surface + minimizes distortion from grain boundaries present in a metal conductor, virtually eliminating hardness and increasing clarity compared to OFHC, OCC, 8N and other copper materials.
FEP AIR TUBE INSULATION (FEP IS A FLUOROPOLYMER)
Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of a faulty circuit. Cable insulation and PCB materials absorb all energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and later released as distortion. However, air absorbs virtually no energy and FEP is the best extrudable solid insulation and absorbs less energy than other materials. Using FEP Air Tube insulation, with almost nothing but air around the PSC + solid conductors, improves the sound of an audio system's focus and dynamics.
TRIPLE BALANCED GEOMETRY (SEPARATE GROUND CONDUCTOR)
Our triple-balanced geometry uses a separate ground reference conductor, so the cable shield is never used as an inferior conductor. Regardless of whether the cable is equipped with RCA or XLR connectors, the cable's three conductors ensure that the positive and negative signals have equally superior and low-distortion traces.
6-LAYER CARBON-BASED NOISE DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS)
It is easy to achieve 100% shield coverage. AQ's Noise Dissipation System (NDS) is required to prevent detected radio frequency interference from modulating the device's ground reference. Traditional shielding systems typically absorb and dissipate noise/ RF energy to component ground, modulating and distorting the critical "reference" ground plane, which in turn causes signal distortion. NDS' alternating layers of metal and carbon-loaded plastic "shield" the shielding and absorb and reflect most of this noise / RF energy before it reaches the layer attached to the ground.
DIELECTRIC BIASING SYSTEM WITH HIGH FREQUENCY TRAP
Any insulation between two or more conductors is also a dielectric whose properties affect the integrity of the signal. When the dielectric is undistorted, the inclusion of the dielectric (absorption and nonlinear release of energy) causes a different time delay (phase shift) for different frequencies and energy levels, which is a real problem for very time-sensitive multi-octave audio. The use of an RF trap (developed for AudioQuest's Niagara series) ensures that no RF interference is induced into the signal conductors by the DBS field elements.
