The Yosemite Valley, located in the midst of the Sierra Nevada mountains in California, is world famous for its beauty, for the work of naturalist John Muir in preserving the valley and for Ansel Adams' impressive black and white photographs ("Yosemite and the Range of Light"). Similar to other glacier-formed fjord-like valleys, such as the famous fjords of Norway, the Yosemite Valley is flanked on both sides by magnificent waterfalls. Giant sequoias, the largest trees in the world, contribute to making Yosemite probably the most beautiful of all national parks in the United States. MASSIVE PERFECT-SURFACE-COPPER+-LEADER (PSC+): Perfect-Surface-Copper+ has a surprisingly smooth and pure surface. The mutual electrical and magnetic influence of the strands in conventional cable constructions is the greatest source of interference and often causes an "impure", "rough" sound. Solid conductors are the fundamental basis for Yosemite's pure sound. FEP AIR TUBE INSULATION (FEP is a fluoropolymer): Any solid material adjacent to a conductor becomes part of an incomplete electrical network. Wire insulation and circuit board material absorb energy (losses). Part of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Yosemite uses Air-Tube insulation for all conductors because air absorbs almost no energy and FEP is the best extrudable solid insulation and absorbs less energy than other materials. The FEP air tubes used in Yosemite consist of almost nothing but air around the solid PSC+ conductors. DIELECTRIC BIAS SYSTEM (DBS, US Pat #s 7,126,055 & 7,872,195 B1): Any insulation slows down the signal on the conductor inside. If there is no voltage at the insulation, it slows down individual parts of the signal to varying degrees - a major problem with very time-critical broadband audio. AudioQuest DBS generates a strong, stable electrostatic field that saturates and polarizes (organizes) the molecules of the insulation. This minimizes both the energy stored in the insulation and the various non-linear time delays. The sound is created against a surprisingly black background with unexpected detail and extended dynamics. The batteries of the DBS will last for several years. A button with LED indicator allows the occasional test of the battery charge level. CARBON-BASED 3-LAYER NOISE-DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS): Achieving 100% shielding is easy. To prevent "trapped" RF interference from affecting the ground reference of the instrument, the AQ Noise Dissipation System is required. Metal and carbon-containing plastics prevent the majority of RF interference from reaching the ground plane of the device. DOUBLE-BALANCED ASYMMETRICAL GEOMETRY: Designed specifically for single-ended applications, Double-Balanced Asymmetrical Geometry provides less impedance to ground for a fuller, more dynamic sound. While many single-ended cables use a single path for both ground and shielding, double-balanced designs separate both for a cleaner, quieter performance. COLD-WELDED DIRECT-SILVERED CLEAN "RED-COPPER" RCA-SPECKER: This connector design allows connection without solder - because this is a common source of interference. Because the ferrules are stamped rather than machined, the metal can be selected for low distortion rather than machinability. Red-Copper offers a purer, clearer sound than nickel-plated or OFHC metals often found in competitive connectors. Direct silver plating represents another important step towards greater clarity without compromising the signal.
