and experienced a breathtaking 111 meter fall in front of the impressive Victoria Falls. The bridge crosses the Zambezi River, which forms the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia in southeast Africa. Although the Victoria Falls are neither the highest nor the widest waterfalls in the world, with their width of 1,708 metres and height of 108 metres they form the waterfall with the largest continuous surface area in the world. The mutual electrical and magnetic influence of the strands in conventional cable constructions is the greatest source of interference and often causes an "impure, rough" sound. Massive conductors are the fundamental basis for the pure sound of the Victoria POLYETHYLENE AIR TUBE INSULATION: Every massive material adjacent to a conductor becomes part of an incomplete electrical network. Wire insulation and conductor material absorb energy (losses). Part of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. In the Victoria, PE-Air-Tube insulation is used for all conductors because air absorbs almost no energy and polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. The PE-Air-Tube insulation causes significantly less blurring effects than other materials. DIELECTRIC BIAS SYSTEM (DBS, US Pat #s 7,126,055 & 7,872,195 B1): Any insulation slows down the signal on the conductor inside. If there is no voltage at the insulation, it slows down individual parts of the signal to varying degrees - a major problem with very time-critical broadband audio. AudioQuest DBS generates a strong, stable electrostatic field that saturates and polarizes (organizes) the molecules of the insulation. This minimizes both the energy stored in the insulation and the various non-linear time delays. The sound is created against a surprisingly black background with unexpected detail and extended dynamics. The batteries of the DBS will last for several years. A button with LED indicator allows the occasional test of the battery charge level. CARBON-BASED 3-LAYER NOISE-DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS): Achieving 100% shielding is easy. To prevent "trapped" RF interference from affecting the ground reference of the instrument, the AQ Noise Dissipation System is required. Metal and carbon-containing plastics prevent the majority of RF interference from reaching the ground plane of the device. DOUBLE-BALANCED ASYMMETRICAL GEOMETRY: Designed specifically for single-ended applications, Double-Balanced Asymmetrical Geometry provides less impedance to ground for a fuller, more dynamic sound. While many single-ended cables use a single path for both ground and shielding, double-balanced designs separate both for a cleaner, quieter performance. COLD-WELDED DIRECT-SILVERED CLEAN "RED-COPPER" RCA-SPECKER: This connector design allows connection without solder - because this is a common source of interference. Because the ferrules are stamped rather than machined, the metal can be selected for low distortion rather than machinability. Red-Copper offers a purer, clearer sound than nickel-plated or OFHC metals often found in competitive connectors. Direct silver plating represents another important step towards greater clarity without compromising the signal.
