In 1990, we were approached by the manager of a large recording studio complex in South Africa with a request to see if we could design and produce all the cables needed to run a very large studio complex. We did, and one of the products was the well-balanced FLEXICON B4, which was specially developed for use with mixing consoles. The combination of superior transmission quality, a very low wire-to-wire capacitance and a very high screening factor combined with very high flexibility and durability is not easy. But as always, a very beautiful design was the result. The direct effect was that we sold 75 km. FLEXICON B4 to SSL, Neve and Focusrite. Those 75 kilometers. Should be used in the three different 96-channel mixing consoles that were specially made for the BOP studios in South Africa. The FLEXICON B4 is now available to all our customers. The inexpensive, slim diameter FLEXICON B4 is ideal for high-quality internal (balanced) signal wiring inside (pre) amplifiers and mixing consoles and as a general-purpose audio and car hi-fi interlink. The two multi-strand (12 x 0.15 mm) cores of the FLEXICON B4 are each AWG 24 and are each coloured red and black. - The conductive material is a large crystal OFC with a very dense silver coating. - The resistance of the center conductor is 8.45 Ohm / 100 meters. - To achieve high flexibility and low capacitance, the conductor insulation is made of polypropylene. - Core core capacity is 47 pF / m. - The double screen consists of a dense helix of 48 x 0.12 mm. strands underneath a specially treated reinforced aluminium foil and has a resistance of 2.85 Ohm / 100 meters. - The outer white jacket with its very thin outer diameter of 3.7 mm. Consists of HULLIFLEX ®, a material with superior properties compared to e.g. PVC, HULLIFLEX ® gives FLEXICON B4 a very long life without ageing effects. Price is per meter.
